Hi Tyler, I'm having an issue setting this up.

at step 5 you say "Create a coupon by following the steps above with the same ad tracking ID as the ‘Coupon code’." and that's where I get tripped up. how do I use the tracking ID in a coupon code and get them to sync.

I must be misunderstanding this.

Hi Jody,

When coupons are setup and you use a % off for the coupon, the shopping cart will calculate the tax on the full price. However, if you change the coupon to be a specific dollar price off, then it will calculate the correct amount of tax based on the new discounted price.

So in short, change it from a percentage off, to a specific dollar amount and this should take care of your issue.

Hi Tyler, I have a similar question as the previous person. We have an Order Coupon setup for a Student Discount on a 3 month class option. Right now the shopping cart is calculating the tax on the full price of the order before the discount. Can we make the tax calculate on the discounted price?

Hi James,

How do you have the coupons setup? Are they product, category or order based?

Once I have a little more information I think I can set you on the right path from going crazy.

All the best,

Tyler

slightly off topic: is there a way to change when coupons are implemented in the checkout?

for me, right now, coupons are activated against the entire amount (product cost, shipping, taxes) but I only want a discount on the retail of my products. I cannot find the option to alter the timing and I am slowly (quickly?) going crazy.

Please help.

Hi Sam,

Are you talking about creating single "user" coupons? If so, there is not a way to import coupons. So unfortunately the only way around this would be to create one coupon at a time.

Hope that helps,

Tyler

Nice, this worked really easy for me. Thanks for the tip, great site. I can't wait to setup that default shipping for US/International orders.
